It' s like choosing necropolis is an instant win button. Heroes 5 necropolis was very balanced using dark points to revive just the right amount of troops to give you smth rewardimg after a battle but not to overpower anything. So the hero starts with some dark points. Each rank increases the amount of dark points.

The grim reaper is a champion creature of the Necropolis in Might & Magic: Heroes VII. It is the upgraded form of the grim rider. Harbingers of death, embodiments of doom, Grim Reapers come to the battlefield wielding great scythes, imbued with the powers of the Spider Goddess herself. It is said that wherever the Reaper strikes, death is sure to follow.
Tactics might help later on against units that have more movement than Vampire Lords and can reach them on 1st turn. As it was already mentioned, you also should have other hero around to get Skeletons from your main hero, so they don't die. This way once it's time to fight AI heroes you can have big army Skeletons with you.
Strong all around and in both the early and late game. 6 - Fortress. Lizard Warriors + Wyvs are fun. 8 - Tower. Meh. It is a lot of fun to play with Master Gremlins, Nagas, and Titans, but not as much fun as it is to play with Grand Elves. 9 - Inferno. Inferno was my go-to town as a kid because it seemed so cool.

They have the Undead ability, as does the rest of the Necropolis, and they are also very cheap creatures when considering they are better than Peasants though they are 3 gold less - which could mean over 1000 gold in the long run.
