We chose the Skoda Octavia vRS because of its excellent claimed mpg and good performance, low tax (£30pa) and superb build quality. It is a good car but falls short of being an outstanding one

Skoda Octavia vRS gets through a lot of 5w30 engine oil, it's probably every two weeks on average that the dash warns me to check oil level. I'd say around 90% of my driving is in city traffic. There are no oil leaks and always has a high-ish consumption since owning the vehicle. I was also warned that they do guzzle a lot of oil.
