The definitive edition is a bit of a glitchy mess that hasn't really been fixed. We got 1 lousy patch 2 weeks after release that left us with a vague changelog and barely fixed anything. It's playable sure, and has a few graphical improvements over the original, especially lighting.
Missing step is to rename steamid folder inside Saves folder with your steamid folder name after step 4. Otherwise it won't work as steam ID will not match and game will use your saves instead new ones or won't find them at all. Full path to rename steamid folder: C:\Users\your_user_name\Documents\My Games\Mafia II Definitive Edition\Saves continue and load game are unavailable until installation completes'; it tells me this after I finish the first mission and it kicks me out into the menu EVERYTIME. In the Original there are 9000 Particles staying on ground. And when you shoot against walls, there were a lot of Stones on the ground in the original. In the Remake shoot the Wall and see the difference!! Or the MG at the beginning. There are Splitters on the Ground, but only a few and they dissapeared quickly.
